This is a plan for all who care about Dartmoor and its future.

This is the single most important plan for the future of Dartmoor National Park. It is the strategic plan for the National Park, one that will guide decisions affecting Dartmoor's future over the coming five years. It is a Plan for the National Park as a whole and not just for the National Park Authority, although the Authority, along with many other stakeholders and the local community, will be key to the delivery of the Partnership Plan.

The purpose of the Partnership Plan is to:

  • Set out a joint, long term Vision and Ambitions for Dartmoor
  • Provide the framework for partnership working through the priorities and action plans
  • Provide the framework for all policy and activity in the National Park, coordinating and integrating other plans, strategies and actions (including the Local Plan)
  • Provide the basis for focusing resources and drawing in funding
  • Communicate what is important about Dartmoor and the priorities for action to the wider community
  • Provide a focus for the work of the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) and how it accounts to Government
  • Illustrate how partner organisations have due regard for National Park purposes

It has been prepared on behalf of Dartmoor National Park by the Dartmoor National Park Authority as the body charged with that statutory responsibility. The Authority has been greatly assisted by a wide range of stakeholders and the Dartmoor communities concerned about the future of this distinctive and special place.

This Partnership Plan takes forward national policies where relevant to the National Park purposes and duty. It provides the strategic context to more specific plans such as the Dartmoor National Park Authority Local Plan and other topic or area specific plans and strategies that will help deliver the Ambitions and Priorities of this Partnership Plan.
